My Lord,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of Your Lordship's despatch No.331 of the 24th September, 1920, with regard to the naturalisation of Mr. N. S. Moses and his children.

2. Entries in the Birth Register of the Colony show that a son, Ernest Steinberg, was born on the 15th September, 1909, and a daughter, Brana Etta, on the 22nd September, 1912, both in Hongkong. The date of the son's birth differs by one year from the date given in Mr. Moses's petition and there is a slight discrepancy in the name of the daughter in that the recorde given the name "Brana Etta" while the petition refers to "Edith Branaetta".

3. Mr. Moses is absent from the Colony and is not expected to return until May, 1921. It is, therefore, impos- sible to ascertain at present whether he has any special reason for wishing the children's names to be included in the certificate of naturalisation, or to make enquiries as to the discrepancies in the children's names and ages. On his return to the Colony I propose to address you further in the matter.

I have the honour to be,
